SideQuest is an animated introduction sequence for a fictional cartoon. The fictional cartoon is a fantasy action comedy with a particular focus on the five main characters. The primary goal of the project is to utilize the visual language of animation to give the audience an understanding of these characters and their individual personalities in a very short amount of time without any dialogue. The secondary goal is to give the audience enough of a feeling for the actual story to cause them to want to watch an actual animated show based on the SideQuest project.
The SideQuest animation, in accordance with assignment constraints, had to be more than one minute in length and had to be completed in one semester. The project was completed through vector animation using Adobe Illustrator, After Effects and Premier Pro. Due to time contraints, the project was cut in length compared to initial plans for the project.
