The P.O.F. (Pack Of Fiber) concept is the result of the combination of a bio-based fiber and soil. The aim of this combination is to create a growing mean that could be used as a domestic buildable green wall. The bio-based fiber developed by the Danish start-up Pond IVS, is the result of many hours spent experimenting different recipes to transform starch into a biobased resin and fiber. One of the most interesting specificity of this new material is its property to completely disappear under certain conditions as heat, humidity and bacteria. As well as being harmless to the environment.
The fusion of the bio-based fibers with soil leads to the creation of a perfect growing mean for all sorts of plants. To ensure that the growing mean keeps a uniform shape over time, the pack of fiber is wrap with a melted fiber shell. The shell being relatively thin and spread out allows the seeds to germinate and grow normally. The increased stiffness of each pack ease the creation of a wall made out of piled units.
Each pack of fiber comes with its own seeds of aromatic herbs (Coriander, chives, basil, parsley, thyme, rosemary, mint, lemon grass or tarragon). The user decides then how he wants to build and arrange his green wall. The orientation of the wall towards the sun will influence the direction in which the plants grow.
The supports
The support is the element that holds the base of the green wall and ensure that the whole facade is stable. Numbers variants have been developed to find the perfect balance between the overall aesthetic, the function and the use.
